Art & Life Interview with Glass Artist James McMurtrie

Hello art lovers!  2022 is well underway - year three of the covid pandemic which has forced us all to ask many questions about our values and what we are grateful for. Art helps so many of us to process the world around us, create joy, see more of what is beautiful in our worlds and liver fuller stronger lives.

This year I am working on an endangered plants exhibition and an exciting new portrait series.

The online portrait course will be launched soon and there will be more on ‘your brain and creating art’ and year three of How to Paint with Acrylics. There will be many more surprises along the way too.

Today I have an Art & Life interview for you with a wonderful glass artist in the Grampians. These interviews highlight the role and value of art in our society and showcase some talented artists for you. It is an election year and I am still thrown that our federal government has no minister for the arts, so continue asking the experts (artists) about the value of art to help us articulate just how important it is in our lives.

After staying at Halls Gap in the beautiful Grampians I stopped to visit James McMurtrie’s glass blowing studio and gallery. You can visit his studio when you drive to this stunning location - I’ll take you inside now for a look at his work and to find out what James thinks of the value of art in life. Enjoy.
