Celebrating all things Eucalypt

National Eucalypt Day is approaching and it got me going. Two fun things to get involved in:

Vote for Australia’s favourite Gum Tree for National Eucalypt Day

The Joy of Painting Eucalypts

Free online Workshop

Saturday March 25, 10am - 12pm AEDT (Melbourne time) via Facebook

I’m lucky to live near the Yarra river and be able to walk amoung the gum trees anytime. The beauty of the Eucalyptus tree enchants me - the changing leaves, the smell, the colours, the grace of the tree trunks and the delicate beauty of the gumnuts. You can see how they influence my work as I capture what I love in paint.

In order to share that connection to nature and love of painting, I am celebrating National Eucalypt Day with a free online painting workshop.  The Joy of Painting Eucalypts. Anyone can join in and be inspired by the Eucalypt tree to create a beautiful painting.

Saturday March 25, 10am-12pm AEDT (Melbourne Time) online via Facebook Live.

Remember, if you can’t join us Live, the video of the workshop will be posted afterwards for those registered to attend.

The workshop is supported by Eucalypt Australia. Last year I came across their annual challenge to choose Australia’s favourite gum tree and had fun adding my vote for National Eucalypt Day.  The crown in 2022 went to the Eucalyptus regnans, the gorgeous towering Mountain Ash of Tasmania and Victoria, while previous years have seen the River Red Gum (Eucalyptus camaldulensis), Snow Gum (E. pauciflora), Illyarrie (E. erythrocorys), and Gimlet (E. salubris) take out the top honours. But which species will win in 2023? It’s fun to whittle down your favourite and they make it easy to get involved. You can vote for Eucalypt of the Year 2023 at Eucalypt Australia

I hope your year is off to a good start. I am steadily working on paintings for my exhibition “Love the One You’re With” at the Hawthorn Town Hall in October and learning to create Australian Wildflower surface pattern designs. I have been doing Thursday Lunchtime Live painting again and would love to see you there. We’ll have a new intake of students for How to Paint With Acrylics on March 30.

I want to share the joy of connecting with nature with as many people as possible so if you could share the link for the workshop that would be great - thanks. https://celiamoriarty.podia.com/the-joy-of-painting-eucalypt

Hope you are taking time to connect to nature and bring some creativity into your life. See you soon.
