What will you do to make this year different?

2025 is underway.  A new year holds promise; things to achieve, people to connect with, challenges to survive, create, begin or end.  A plan certainly helps to get more done.

Do you want to, try something new, live with more grace, enjoy the beauty in the world more?  What is one simple do-able action you could do every day to get you to where you want to be?

Daily actions to get where I want to be …

laugh out loud

go for a walk
help someone

eat more veggies

stretches when you wake read a book/ listen to a podcast
smile at people
try a new hobby

look for the upside when frustrated

Giving your attention to something, changes your focus and changes how you engage with the world. But without quantifying the action and measuring it, change is unlikely to happen. Set yourself a tiny do-able daily action and have a go. It feels good to have a plan.

My year kicks off with two exhibitions.

Rare Adelaide

Did you know that one in four native South Australian plants are at risk of extinction? That is an amazing statistic and a scary one. In the Threatened Seed Orchard at the Adelaide Botanic gardens you can see many of these threatened species growing from wild seed.  As well as preserving seed for the future, replanting projects are undertaken with farmers and schools to support these species in the wild.

I have been painting rare and threatened SA plants and will exhibit the paintings at the Hughes Gallery Fullarton in February and March.  Come along and learn more about the things you can do to help protect native plants where you live.

Below is my Rare Adelaide design using all the plants I painted for the exhibition.   I hope to get it printed on a tea towel for the opening.  This year I plan to really grow my surface pattern design skills and get some work out there.
