ART Connects ...

Art can connect us in so many different ways. It challenges, soothes and inspires.

How could art connect you …

Humans are pack animals.  We are wired to connect.  But sometimes it’s hard.  We can get caught in the grind of life.  Art helps us see differently, ask different questions, think differently and begin to connect more deeply. It helps us reconnect with the world in different ways.

Many of the people who purchased paintings at the exhibition shared the story of how the painting reminded them of a good place or time in their lives. The paintings help them hold those special moments.

Consistently comments were made that the paintings are uplifting and the gallery of my paintings feels happy. I’m thrilled that my work has that impact.

In my garden, as I have breakfast I see the bee sculpture made by my friend Margaret Christianson. It reminds me of bees of course (particularly for my blue bee design project) of friendship and of the power of nature. Collecting art that connects you with people, places, and hopes is a good way to lift everyday and remind you of what is important to you.

At the exhibition a lot of people shared the love of native plants and of encouraging biodiversity. Sharing the beauty of the threatened plants is my way of initiating some of those harder discussions and connecting ideas and people to help the cause.

I feel a lot more connected to Adelaide thanks to all those who came along to the exhibition opening. Thank you. And thanks to all those who couldn’t be there but offered support.

I made new connections at the Botanic Gardens, SA Seed Conservation Centre and Mt Barker Library. Carol Rothschild flew over from Melbourne to offer her amazing event management skills. Tim Bruce generously helped hang the Goodwood Library exhibition with his laser beam and gallerist expertise. Lola and Victor helped hang Hughes Gallery. I’m very lucky.

The limited edition Rare Adelaide notebooks were all sold with profits going to the Adelaide Seed Conservation Centre.

Rare Adelaide is still on until Friday Mar 7 and the Goodwood Library exhibition is on until the 12th. Take a moment to connect with art and see where it takes you. I’ll be there on Wednesday morning 10.30am.

As well as ‘Rare Adelaide’ at the Hughes Gallery I have work currently at the Goodwood Library

This exhibition includes, portraits, still life, landscapes and macro wildflowers.

The show will travel - Mt Barker Library has invited me to take the exhibitions to their library from mid March to late May. So if you could’t make it to Fullarton or Goodwood you can see them up in beautiful leafy Mt Barker (sans sold paintings). Thanks Terri Nitschke!
